Artificial Intelligence and Its Implications for Modern Education

Abstract

Current advances in artificial intelligence and machine learning are bringing revolutionary changes to many sectors. Experts compare them to the “new electricity”, which will gradually transform virtually every industry. The aim of the lecture is to present how, with the introduction of large language models (such as GPT, Bard, Mistral and others), this trend is entering the field of education: It brings with it fundamental changes that we as educators cannot afford to ignore, but also many new opportunities and tools. Last but not least, it gives us an incentive to take a step back from our daily routine and rethink the way we want to educate and what skills we need to cultivate in students so that they will be able to respond to challenges that we do not even know about today.
